EXAMPLE SAFARI ITINERARIES

All of our itineraries are custom made to ensure they are exactly what you want. Depending on how long you have, what your budget is and what your preferred style is, we will adapt each and every itinerary to suit you. However, below is an example itinerary to give you  a flavour of what you might experience.

DAY 1 - WELCOME TO TANZANIA

We will be waiting for you at Kilimanjaro with open arms, a big warm smile and freshly brewed coffee.

When ready, we shall transfer you to Osiligiliai Massai Lodge, where you will have your first true immersive experience of the trip. You will spend the afternoon learning about life with a Maasai tribe before watching the sun set over Mount Meru. We will then all gather round the fire while we listen to Maasai stories before eventually retiring for some delicious traditional cuisine.

Tonight you will stay in a traditional Maasai Hut. But fear not! It has an ensuite and running water as well as a beautiful view of Kilimanjaro!

DAY 2 - TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

After watching the sunrise over Kilimanjaro we will head to Tarangire National Park, also known as Elephant Paradise! This is the best place to see wild elephants in Tanzania. We will also see plenty of other animals in Tarangire too, but elephants are the real highlight!

We will arrive at around 11, giving us a chance to enjoy a game drive before we park up for a hot picnic lunch by the river bed. After lunch we will spend the rest of the afternoon searching for animals, from elephants to pythons and everything in between!

At the end of the day we will wave goodbye to Tarangire and drive to Karatu where we will stay the night at Eileen’s Trees Inn.

DAY 3 - NGORONGORO CRATER

We will get up early today and head to Ngorongoro Crater National Park, without a doubt the most beautiful park in Tanzania. It is the only remaining intact caldera in the world and a true haven for wildlife. It is also the only place in Tanzania where we are likely to spot wild rhinos.

We will enjoy a nice scenic picnic lunch we make our way on to the endless plains of the Serengeti, arriving there at around 4 pm. As we make our way to the lodge for the night, we will enjoy an evening game drive.

We will spend the night at Serenity Nyota Luxury Tented Camp.

DAY 4 - CENTRAL SEREGENTI NATIONAL PARK

We will get up early so that we can enjoy the park while still quiet. It is also the perfect time to spot lions while they are most active. If we are lucky we might even see a hunt. We will also be looking out for leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, gazelle, buffaloes… you name it, we will look for it!

After enjoying a hot picnic lunch we will make our way North, in search of the Wildebeest migration who during July, August and September will be crossing the Mara River.

We will arrive with enough time to enjoy an evening game drive on route to our lodge for the evening: Kenzan Mobile Camp.

DAY 5 - NORTHERN SERENGETI - MARA RIVER

Today is all about the wildebeest, the greatest animal migration on earth! If we are lucky we might even see them crossing the Mara River. What we do and what we see will be dictated by what happens when we visit the Mara River as the wildebeest are not very predictable and are likely to keep us on our toes!

This morning is also a brilliant opportunity for a hot air balloon ride as the sun-rises. Previous guests has been lucky enough to see the migration crossing the river from the air!

Mid-afternoon we will start making our way back south again to Central Serengeti where will stay at Signature Serengeti for the night.

DAY 6 - EXPLORING CENTRAL SERENGETI

We will enjoy one final game drive in the morning while we look for any animals we may not have yet spotted.

After lunch, we will start the journey back to civilization stopping off on the way at Olduvai Gorge so that you can see and learn about the cradle of humanity. It is here that the first hominoid remains were found.

Back in Karatu we will stay at Eileen’s Lodge once more.

DAY 7 - MEET THE LOCALS - HADZABE TRIBE

We have a special treat for you today before we drop you back off at the airport. We will meet the Hadzabe Tribe. The Hadzabe live very much like our ancestors did, off the land. The women gather and the men hunt. We will have a chance to interact with them and learn about their way of life. We will also meet the Datoga tribe, a pastoral tribe.

After meeting the tribes we will make our way back to the airport for your onward flight.
