7-Day Off-Peak Migration Safari

Travel in May or June, when the landscapes are green, the herds are moving west, and the crowds have yet to arrive. This journey blends Maasai culture, crater wonders, and a chance to witness the Grumeti River crossing, all guided with care, pace, and a deep knowledge of the land.

You’ll be welcomed at Kilimanjaro Airport with a smile, a warm handshake, and a cup of strong Tanzanian coffee, our way of saying, karibu sana. From there, you’ll head straight to Osiligilai Maasai Lodge, a peaceful retreat nestled between Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro. Here, surrounded by open land and big skies, your safari begins not with animals, but with people.
Spend the afternoon connecting with Maasai hosts through storytelling, song, and ceremony. This isn’t a staged performance. It’s a real exchange, one that offers insight, humility, and a grounding start to the days ahead.

This morning takes you into Arusha National Park, one of Tanzania’s lesser-known gems. Hike through lush forest trails with your guide, watching for colobus monkeys in the trees and buffalo in the clearings.

At midday, you’ll arrive at a hidden waterfall for a surprise bush lunch, just you, the sound of water, and the stillness of nature. Later, drive to Karatu, a peaceful town in the highlands, ready for tomorrow’s descent into the wild.

This morning begins with an early descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, a place of staggering beauty and rich biodiversity. Often described as a natural amphitheatre, the crater floor is home to black rhino, hippo-filled pools, and some of the most breathtaking scenery you’ll encounter.
After a picnic lunch, the landscape shifts. You’ll journey onward into the Serengeti, where the horizon stretches wide and the road seems to lead into forever. Arrive by early evening, just as the plains glow golden and the first silhouettes of giraffes and gazelle appear against the fading light.

Wake to the soft light of dawn and the distant call of lions. Today is yours to explore the central Serengeti, where big cats rule the kopjes and herds roam across golden grasslands.

With your guide leading the way, follow tracks, read the wind, and witness stories unfolding, at your pace, in your own time. This is safari at its most immersive: still, thrilling, and unforgettable.

This morning, set out toward the western Serengeti, following the trail of the migrating herds. Fewer travellers venture this way, but the rewards are immense: vast plains, rich wildlife, and the chance to witness a Grumeti River crossing.

Here, crocodiles lie in wait, and tension builds at the riverbanks. Whether you catch the drama or simply feel its presence, this day will leave an impression that lasts long after the dust settles.

After breakfast, begin your journey back toward central Serengeti, with another chance to track predators and follow the rhythms of the land. The route may be familiar, but the bush is never the same twice.

Take your time, stop when the moment calls, and let your guide lead you toward scenes you didn’t expect, and stories you’ll never forget.

Start the day with a final game drive, one last chance to take in the Serengeti’s quiet magic, as the sun rises and the plains stretch endlessly ahead.

Then, begin the journey back toward the airport, your heart full and your camera heavy. This may be the end of your trip, but the memories are only just beginning.

Why This Journey Resonates

Explore Tanzania during green season, when the landscape is lush, the air is fresh, and wildlife sightings are intimate and uncrowded.

Track the Great Migration west, with the chance to witness dramatic Grumeti River crossings before peak-season travellers arrive.

Start with Maasai hospitality, connecting to local culture from the very first day, not as a show, but as a shared experience.

Hike in Arusha National Park, spotting wildlife on foot and enjoying a surprise waterfall lunch few safari-goers ever experience.

Descend into Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most biodiverse, breathtaking landscapes in Africa.

Balance stillness with movement, with time to observe, explore, and reflect, never rushed, always thoughtfully paced.

Go beyond the obvious, travelling west into quieter corners of the Serengeti where your guide’s instinct truly shines.

Designed with care: Every stop, every detail, every view, from the first coffee to the final sunset, is considered, so you can simply be present.
